Feeding Horses Naturally- Back to Basics

Well here we go again, -Feeding Naturally, the way nature intended...
Riverfare is offering whole grains as a foundation diet for the horses on the farm
Beginning in early summer and with great success here at  Riverfare we choose to develop a whole grain diet that our herd is responding to in a very positive way! After looking at the changes in the proccessed feeds and recognizing that our herds' age groups were varying; in order to meet the needs of everyone we have offered them a unique mix of which does not include molasses, grain fillers or corn. There have been positive results, in the weight, hooves, coats, and overall condition. The farrier loves it!  The horses weight has stayed consistant and the cost has not been overwhlming!! . As we look at the digestion of the horse and beginning at the mastication of the food through the mouth teeth and throughout the system is as nature intended!!
Yes, I still feed Nutrena feeds as foundation  the ingredients and the mix nutritionally meets the average horses' protein, fat and fiber content  that most nutritional educators and vets recommend , I supplement the additional mineral requirements as well.
I am in hopes that many of you can look to the natural whole horse feeds that Riverfare has choosen to adopt for its feeding program, and if you have any questions or thoughts let me know!
See ya,
Kim
